Audi A8 in North America

The Audi A8 (Typ 4D) appeared in Europe in 1994, with industrial facility preparation beginning June 1994,even though it was not until the 1997 model year that it ended up being ready in North America. Unlike its forerunner, the Audi V8 model, which was extended an existing steel stage, the A8 appeared on the then-unique Volkswagen Group D2 stage, an all aluminium monocoque, promoted as the "Audi Space Frame" (ASF), which encouraged to decrease weight and protect structural unbending nature. The saloon/sedan was offered in both the A8 (standard wheelbase), and the A8L broadened or extended-wheelbase (LWB) form. The A8L unites 5 creeps (127 mm) of back legroom.

Upgrades to the auto in 1997 combined the increase of six inner part airbags, making the A8 the first vehicle to be so furnished.
